Tózar Information
The name of the town comes from the Arab era when it was called “Tusar”. There is a tower in the village called Torre de las Porquerizas. It was built by Muslims as part of the defensive buildings in Moclín area.
Before the Muslim era, there was a Roman settlement in this location in Granada region. There is a dolmen and also burial grounds from Visigoths era that were also used by the Romans.
More recent in history, we can see in the village some “trincheras” (trenches) used in the Spanish Civil War.
Fiestas
Feria de San José Obrero. It is celebrated close to 19th of March to honour the Patron Saint of Tózar, San José Obrero.
Candelaria. On the night of the 2nd of February, people gather around a bonfire to celebrate the new year.
